Menston offers a good range of amenities. The village centre boasts a selection of independent shops, a post office, library and there is wonderful local produce to be found at the farm shops in the area. Neighbouring Guiseley has two retail parks, including big name stores and a pleasing selection of independent stores too. For more extensive shopping options, the market towns of Ilkley and Otley are just a short drive away.

If you’re looking for a quick bite or an evening out, there are options available to you. There are several pubs in the village, including the popular Menston Arms and the Fox and Hounds along with several charming cafes. For more choice, head to neighbouring Guiseley where you’ll find pubs with good menus, restaurants serving food from around the world and informal delis, cafes and coffee shops too. And if none of that tickles your tastebuds, there’s always fish and chips!

You don’t have to venture into Leeds to have a good night out (although that’s always an option!) The local pubs have regular entertainment from open mic nights, pub quizzes and themed evenings. There’s popular entertainment at the Guiseley Factory Workers Club and the charming Guiseley Theatre has an impressive programme of productions.

Harry Ramsden started the business from a hut in 1928, before creating something altogether more luxurious. The vast temple to battered cod is still serving today, and is officially the largest fish and chip restaurant in the world. And when Sooty was but a twinkle in his eye, Harry Corbett could be found playing piano here – Mr Ramsden was his uncle.
