Yorkshire Living: Helmsley

As well as being surrounded by green countryside, Helmsley offers plenty to do right in the town centre. Keep reading to find out what Helmsley has to offer!

If you're in the town centre...

Take a walk along the pretty high street in Helmsley town centre. With a wide range of independent shops and boutiques lining the streets, there is everything from clothing, to jewellery, to books for you to explore.

If you're looking for a bite to eat, Helmsley has a range of independent cafes and restaurants available. If you're eating on the go, you can stop by Porter's Coffee Shop for a brew, or  the local bakery and pick up your favourite pastry. If you prefer a sit down meal, head to Gepetto's Restaurant or La Trattoria for a taste of heaven.

If you're walking around...

Just walking around Helmsley is picturesque. With cobbled streets and the river Rye running through the middle, you'll find bridges and hidden gems as you're wondering around. Stop by one of the many cafes and get a coffee to go and take a walk by the river Rye.

If you want a day out...

It's not just the local shops and amenities that make Helmsley a great place, Helmsley also offers plenty of opportunities for days out for you and all the family.

Just a 10 minute walk out of town is Helmsley Castle, one of many great attractions in Helmsley. Helmsley Castle is a medieval castle open to visitors each weekend, so grab your camera and spend the day exploring the castle!

Helmsley Walled Garden is another of Helmsleys stand out atttractions. Set in the North York Moors and at the start of the Cleveland Way National Trail, the garden is an ideal place for cyclists, dog lovers, walkers and gardeners.

If you're on the outskirts...

If you're passing through Helmsley rather than stopping for a look around, you won't be dissapointed. The surrounding areas are filled with vast countryside and scenic views.
