Yorkshire Living: Bramhope, Leeds

The village of Bramhope, 9 miles North of Leeds city centre, is known to be one of the most sought-after areas to live in Yorkshire. Why? There’s tonnes of reasons! Everything from the local community to fantastic schools nearby, from convenient amenities in the village, to top-rated pubs and cafes within walking distance. Parks and nature reserves

The popular Golden Acre Park is situated in Bramhope. Covering 137 acres of land, you can pick up a cuppa at the cafĂ© and walk round the lake, or choose a woodland route instead. If you prefer a bigger hike, visit Otley Chevin Forest Park, just 5 miles in the opposite direction of Golden Acre Park. This preserved nature area offers a mix of woodlands, open space and valley views. Bramhope is home to Breary Marsh, a local nature reserve adjacent to Golden Acre Park. Free to explore, you can also find Paul’s Pond at the southern end of the reserve. Paul’s Pond is a fish pond, so if you’re lucky, you might see a kingfisher! It’s the perfect place for a casual walk with scenic surroundings. Adel Dam Nature Reserve is another popular nature reserve in the area. This hidden gem is located right next to Golden Acre Park, and offers a circular walking route. You can enjoy taking the family out to spot some birds at the feeding station or overlook the lake, where you might spot a kingfisher!
 

Food and Drink

For your morning caffine fix, take a walk to the Bramhope Deli and Corner Cup where you can pick up a freshly grounded coffee, choose from a range of sandwiches, pastries and other freshly baked goods. If you’re looking for the perfect pub lunch, head to 'Fox & Hounds’, a historic, family run pub serving fresh, home cooked food. The pub offers a beer garden too, making summer evenings utter bliss. Willing to venture a little further from home? The picturesque market towns of Otley and Horsforth are both within 4 miles of Bramhope, both offering a range of independent cafes and restaurants to choose from.

Perfect for families, Bramhope is home to several well-regarded Primary and Secondary schools. Bramhope Primary School and Allerton High School are in the area, both rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The choice continues, with Pool C Of E Primary School, Lawnswood School and Horsforth School, all rated Good by Ofsted.
 

Getting Around

Bramhope is ideally situated with great public transportation and access to nearby towns and villages. There are several bus routes that service Bramhope and provide regular services to Leeds city centre, as well as regular services to nearby towns and villages such as Ilkley, Pool and Otley. The nearest train station is Horsforth Train Station, under 4 miles away, connecting you to major cities and suburbs such as Leeds and Headingley. Spring Wood Park is located just 7 miles from Leeds city centre, offering a range of restaurants, attractions, shops and culture. Highlights include the Victoria Quarter, Corn Exchange and West Yorkshire Playhouse.
