Alice, originally from Lincolnshire and Curtis from Mansfield, moved to Sheffield for work around 3 years ago. After renting an apartment, they decided they wanted to escape city life and decide on where they wanted to settle. With friends living in the nearby village of Oxspring, Lairds Way in Penistone seemed the perfect place to live.
“We first saw the development on Rightmove, then we looked at Space Homes’ website to find out more. The Rivelin caught our eye straight away; we wanted a 3 bedroom house with a spacious kitchen and a garden so it looked perfect.”
The couple came to visit the development one weekend in March and fell in love straight away. “The same day we viewed the house, we put our reservation down!”
The couple used the Shared Ownership scheme to purchase their home. They were initially unaware of the scheme but after our team talked them through it, they realised this would be their lucky ticket to stepping onto the property ladder. “We walked in not knowing anything about Shared Ownership, and now look at us! If it wasn’t for Shared Ownership, we probably wouldn’t be living here.”
Its not just the house the couple fell in love with, it’s the ideal location that put the icing on the cake. “We have a short commute to work and we live near our friends, it’s just what we were looking for.”
As first time buyers, we were interested to see how Curtis and Alice found the home buying process with us. They said “we were often worried that the documents weren’t going through and we weren’t going to be able to move in.
